Message from Carmen: Proud to present the official music video for “Agarra la onda” which was released exactly one year ago through the “Wild Tongue” compilation album produced by Charlie Vela of Casa Panchita Studios. I’d like to thank Ismael Martinez (Life Through Lens) for taking the time out of his busy schedule to help this vision come to life... The vision of how I perceive my home – a resilient border town that shows no fear when it comes to protecting our land, our families, and culture.
Fear-mongering politicians want to exclude us from the conversation. They ignore us and claim to have the country's best interest, though we too stand on U.S. soil. They spread hateful rhetoric about our hometown and forcefully want to build a prejudiced wall that is not only separating families but also claiming private properties, endangering our wildlife, and scenic wetlands.
Our region is a hot spot for hundreds of migrating species that draw world-wide attention contributing over $300 million annually to the City of Alamo and the rest of the lower Rio Grande Valley -- thriving ecotourism has created over 4,407 full-time and part-time jobs, which Trump’s border wall threatens to eradicate.
This message is not just one of Valley pride, but a call to action for all to stand up against hate and proudly say: WE ARE HERE, and we will not stand by while our own government tries erase our home. AGARRA LA ONDA! Directly translates to: Catch the wave or (more loosely) GET WITH IT! Get with the movement. Our region has rarely known a time where we are not consistently fighting for the most basic freedoms the rest of the country takes for granted. Stand with us, or not, we will keep fighting!

Orgullosa de presentar el video oficial de “Agarra la onda” que se lanzó hace exactamente un año a través del álbum recopilatorio de "Wild Tongue" producido por Charlie Vela de Casa Panchita Studios. Me gustaría agradecer a Ismael Martinez (Life Through Lens) por tomar el tiempo de su apretada agenda para ayudar a que esta visión sea realizado... La visión de cómo percibo mi hogar: una ciudad fronteriza resistente que no muestra temor cuando se trata de proteger nuestra tierra, nuestras familias y nuestra cultura.
Los políticos que hacen el miedo quieren excluirnos de la conversación. Nos ignoran y afirman tener el mejor interés del país, aunque nosotros también estamos en el territorio de los EUA. Difunden una odiosa retórica sobre nuestra ciudad natal y quieren construir un muro con prejuicios que no solo separa nuestras familias sino que también reclama propiedades privadas, poniendo en peligro nuestra vida silvestre y áreas pintorescos.
Nuestra región es punto importante para cientos de especies que migran por nuestra frontera que atraen la atención mundial y contribuye con más de $300 millones al año a la Ciudad de Álamo y al resto del Valle del Río Grande. El ecoturismo a próspero y creado más de 4,407 de empleos a tiempo completo y parcial. Trabajos de tiempo, que el muro fronterizo de Trump amenaza con erradicar.
Este mensaje no es solo uno de el orgullo de nuestro Valle, sino un llamado a la acción para que todos se unen contra el odio y digan con orgullo: ESTAMOS AQUÍ, y no nos quedemas quietos mientras nuestro propio gobierno intente borrar nuestro hogar. AGARRA LA ONDA! Sigamos con el movimiento! Es raro el momento que nuestra región no haya conocido lucha constante por las libertades más básicas que el resto del país da por sentado.
